# Alpha Peptides Australia, a few useful first lessons

Peptide talk gets easier once a few words stop tripping over each other. We explain five of them here, then try them out on the research. You don’t need a chemistry background.

Alpha means the first things learned, not the best product on a list. We’re here for the useful distinctions. There won’t be a spelling test.

Five words to untangle a claim.

## Peptide and medicine do different jobs

### peptide

A peptide is a chain of amino acids, the small building blocks also found in proteins. That describes its make-up. It says nothing yet about whether it helps a person.

[BPC-157](/bpc-157) and [ipamorelin](/ipamorelin) are peptides with different research behind them. [NAD+](/nad) gets included in the conversation too. It’s actually a coenzyme: a helper in cell chemistry.

### medicine

For a medicine, the exact product and its intended use matter. Semaglutide and tirzepatide have FDA-approved products. That approval doesn’t extend to every preparation containing either ingredient.

Some compounded medicines are prepared for one patient; larger FDA-registered compounders can also supply batches for clinics and hospitals. [Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/compounding-and-fda-questions-and-answers). Our [comparison page](/compare) explains why an ingredient name alone doesn’t tell you enough.

## Purity describes a sample; evidence tests a claim

### purity

Purity asks how much of a sample is the intended substance. Identity asks whether it’s the right substance at all. Sterility asks whether it’s free of living germs.

These checks aren’t interchangeable. The FDA explains how [contamination and preparation errors can harm people](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/human-drug-compounding/understanding-risks-compounded-drugs). A purity result also can’t tell you whether a treatment works. A test report isn’t a tiny clinical trial.

### evidence

Who was studied, and what changed? Those are useful questions even if the paper’s title is hard going. An animal finding doesn’t establish a benefit in people.

A [BPC-157 safety pilot followed two adults](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40131143/). It didn’t test injury healing. [Ipamorelin’s bowel-surgery trial](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25331030/) tested a practical benefit and didn’t establish it. An interesting idea is allowed to have an awkward result.

## Permission and personal care need their own checks

### permission

Australia is our name, not a supply area. A doctor or pharmacist can check the exact product and use against Australia’s official medicine register. U.S. approval doesn’t settle Australian permission.

For U.S. care, a licensed U.S. clinician or prescribing telehealth service can assess the options, including FDA-approved products where available. A registered study team handles trial eligibility. Our [questions page](/faq) helps sort out who can answer what.

We’re happy to explain a word twice. What bothers us is a word quietly doing a job it hasn’t earned: “pure” standing in for “safe”, or “measured” standing in for “helpful”. Spotting those swaps is useful well beyond these pages, even if you only read one compound page today.

We’re a guide to what the words can bear, not a clinic, pharmacy or seller.
